While assisting customers and managing stock, he found himself drawn to the hunting knives department, where he encountered handcrafted treasures by esteemed artisans like Randall and Ralph Bone. The pivotal moment occurred in 1988 when Paul was introduced to his first high-end, sole-authorship blades by renowned craftsmen such as Joe Kious, Kaj Embretsen, Michael Walker, Larry Fuegen, Bill Pease, and Frank Centofante. From that moment on, he was captivated, embarking on a twelve-year journey traveling to knife shows across the country to meet his favorite makers.
