Paul’s immersion into the world of knives took root in the summer of 1976, during his tenure at America’s oldest cutlery store, where he spent months selling high-end fly fishing tackle. Amidst assisting customers and managing stock, Paul found himself drawn to the hunting knives department, where he encountered his first-hand made treasures by esteemed artisans such as Randall and Ralph Bone.
The pivotal moment came in 1988 when Paul was introduced to his first high-end, sole-authorship blades by renowned craftsmen including Joe Kious, Kaj Embretsen, Michael Walker, Larry Fuegen, Bill Pease, and Frank Centofante. From that moment on, he was captivated, embarking on a twelve-year journey traveling to knife shows across the country to meet his favorite makers.
