Comments: Scott Sawby’ Tern” model is one of his most popular classic patterns. It comes complete with his
patented “Self-lock“, one of the most ingenious locking mechanisms found on knives today.

Part of the beauty is that the harder you try to force the blade closed the tighter it locks, unless you know exactly where to push! This knife comes with gem quality Pietersite scales, which nicely compliments the overall shape of the knife and blade.

Flawless engraving in raised gold by Master Jon Robyn.

This sleek beauty is the perfect carry knife.

About Scott Sawby:

In 1970 he began making knives as a hobby. Sawby says, “it was difficult to get started back then, as there were no books on knifemaking and very few makers around to get advice from.” He teamed up with Steve Mullin and they went north to see Bernard Sparks in Dingle, Idaho. Bernie was one of the original custom knifemakers and a founding member of the Guild. He pointed them in the right direction, showed them what a belt sander was, and then they went back to Logan to construct one. For the next few years they made knives either full or part time depending on what other employment was available.

In 1976 Steve and Sawby bought adjoining pieces of land in North Idaho, built log homes on them and became professional knifemakers. Their first shop was built of logs. Eventually outgrowing it and in 1983 he sold his half to Steve and built a shop of his own nearby where he still works to this day.
