Comments: A long time member of the prestigious Art Knife Invitational (AKI), Ron and his famous dad Ray make some of the most unique and highly sought after knives on the planet. Each one is an extraordinary adventure in knife making, and there is simply nothing like them anywhere. And given the that there are thousands of knife makers spread across the globe, this is a truly remarkable achievement.

This knife is part of a special series of Appleton knives called "Argentine Pass". They were designed by Ron to sell for a price that could more easily be afforded by a wider range of collectors than he normally sees at shows such as the Art Knife Invitational. The goal was to eventually make 25 of them in all, with the first being produced in 1998, and one or two have been made annually for each year since that time. The blade is of ATS-34 and the frame of D-2. The locking mechanism is a single position locked called the "Lower-IQ".

And in an absolutely classic case of "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished" I have never run across an example of more misinformation being spread about a single knife in the 32 years I've been collecting them! Because Ron made the knives to sell at a modest price all sorts of rumors spread about their construction. Some people said that the parts were made outside the US and Ron just assembled the knives, others thought the parts made here by an automated machining process and so on and so on.

I have spoken to Ron at length, and none of this is true. Period!

Every one of these knives has been hand-made one at a time in the US by Ron Appleton using only the finest material just like any other Appleton knife. What makes them affordable is that they do not use exotic materials and locking mechanisms so they are less costly and take less time to make than other Appleton models.

They were never produced serially or on a production line, and there has never been a year where more than two of them have been made. This is a tiny number of knives in a single model compared to an endless number of examples made by top knife makers around the world. Currently Ron makes about one of these models each year.

And to make sure they are unique, every knife is shaped just a little bit differently so there are truly no two that are alike. Don't miss this opportunity to have something special and rare at what amounts to a modest price in the world of high end customs.

Very cool knife - and I promise you will not be disappointed!
