Comments: At this point it would probably be an understatement to say that John Young is the hottest maker of classic stock-removal fixed blades on the custom knife scene today. But of course it's still true. When we met John at the 2004 Knifemakers Guild Show he was a guy making quality knives with a 4-6 month waiting list. Today John has to sell his knives by drawing at shows to avoid a riot, is quoting 3-6 years for delivery, depending on the model. And the fit and finish of his knives is absolutely second to none, including knives made by his distinguished mentor Steve Johnson. To learn more about John and his work please see the Featured Artists pages of our site.
Besides making an assortment of classic Loveless and Johnson shapes, John has produced a number of interesting designs of his own with many more sure to come. The model pictured above is a one-of-a kind knife John did for the Knifemakers Guild Show Gala in 2006. It has a 416 stainless long bolster perfect for engraving, and a flawlessly ground blade of ATS-34. The scales are of presentation-grade fossil ivory and have wonderful color on both sides. Don't miss this chance to have a John Young without the five year wait - you won't be sorry - we promise.
