Comments: An outstanding Semi-skinner by talented Wyoming maker Dennis Friedly. Dennis have been making knives for 38 years, and first learned about knife making from deceased legend Harvey Draper. Dennis loves working with damascus and fine fossil ivory, and is especially careful to make sure each piece is well balanced to the eye and not overdone with frivolous embellishments.
This is the classic heavy trailing point originally designed by noted sportsman, marksman and author Elmer Keith. He designed this model to handle the skinning and dressing of large animals such as Elk. The knife clearly has a bit of Hatchet in it and feels absolutely amazing in hand. Elmer was a great shot and definately knew a thing or two about designing great knives!
Dennis is a voting member of the Knifemakers Guild and has won numerous awards, including the 2006 Solvang Best of Show, the BACCA Best Hunter and the Baretta Award twice! He is always working on new designs and currently attend three shows a year. This includes Solvang, the Blade Show and the Plaza Cutlery Show.
He generally favors Daggers, Bowies and Fighters with a strong Art Knife style, and is currently quoting 1-2 years for delivery depending on the model and engraving.
