Comments: At this point what more can you say about Bob Loveless, that he is the most influential living knife maker, that he is a living legend and more - yes, but even more importantly, Bob is one hell of a knife maker! This is the very rare Loveless Big Bear Sub-hilt Fighter - the largest knife currently made in the Loveless Shop.

The Sub-hilt fighters are the most coveted models still in production in the Loveless shop, and this one made in Riverside CA, sports a stainless guard and all stainless fittings. It also has Classic Micarta scales with the familiar football logo. It also comes with the proper Loveless sheath.

This is a special Big Bear with a very interesting history. Made in 1974, the last year Steve Johnson worked in the Loveless Shop and the first year in Riverside, this knife has an exceptional in-hand quality and the best blade and guard polish we've ever seen on a Big Bear from this era.

The handle rivets are also special, and were made of common stainless nails as Bob says they could not afford real stainless pins when they first began to move away from nickel silver. The knife comes with photo-copy of a one page letter from noted Loveless expert J. W. Denton describing the history of the knife and it's previous two owners. The letter was written in December of 1996 and will go along with the knife.
