Those familiar with the work of ABS Master Smith Ron Newton are already aware that although he can make any type of knife in any style he is best known for his Antique English and American Bowie reproductions. And this folding Bowie in the Sheffield style is a perfect example of what makes Ron’s knives so special. The blade and bolsters are of Mosaic Damascus forged from 1095 and 15N20 steels in Ron’s own shop. He doesn’t have a name for this pattern so we just call it amazing! The premium Mother-of-Pearl Handles are highlighted with hand-made rivet-type studs and the stunning sheath is made of leather overlaid with Ostrich skin and decorated with a hand-engraved German silver tip. The Titanium liners have been vine file-worked then anodized gold and the bolsters have been inlaid with 24 carat gold highlights. This is one of the most special knives we’ve seen in recent years and an ideal example of Ron Newton’s skill and artistry. Thanks Ron.
