Comments: A superb Classic single-blade Zulu Spear Lock Back by talented Texas maker Enrique Pena. Enrique was mentored by slip-joint magician Bill Ruple, and has come up with his own very appealing variations on these classic pocket-knife themes.
Enrique's knife making philosophy is simple. He says -" I like a good combination of sharp straight lines and curves that are simple yet nice. I also think that simple knives are a bit like women that are so beautiful that they do not need make-up on their face!".
One of the things we like most is the way that Enrique has subtlety modified the old shapes to give them just a little something special and to make them his own. We like them so much we've recently added one to our own collection!
Fit and finish are superb, and the blades open and close very smoothly. In fact we cannot really see how they could be improved.
And Enrique even makes his own jigged bone for a higher level of authenticity!
We almost never say this - but we actually think these knives are a real value at their current price and our guess is that they will not stay at this level long based on the quality of the work.
